Facebook Username to UID

Turn profile handles or links into numeric IDs.

About

Paste handles like zuck or Meta, or full facebook.com profile links, and get the numeric UID behind each one. Every other Facebook lookup on this site takes numbers, so this is usually the first tool you open and the last one you think about.

How to use

One handle or profile URL per line. The result gives the UID and, when the upstream exposes it, the public display name and canonical profile URL. Copy the UID column into the live checker or the friend count lookup.

Two identities per profile, and only one of them is stable

A Facebook profile carries a handle that the owner can edit and a number that they cannot. Anything you saved as a link can therefore rot, while the number underneath keeps working. Converting a list once and storing the numbers is the difference between a check that still runs next year and a list of dead links.

What comes back in each row

The UID is the point of the exercise. The display name is useful for spotting a mismatch, because it is what the account calls itself right now and it will not always match the handle you typed. When the canonical profile URL is returned it is worth keeping too, since it is the form that survives a later rename.

Where an empty row usually comes from

Renames are the first suspect, deleted profiles the second, and links that point at something other than a profile the third. Pages and groups do not behave like people here. If a row matters, open the link by hand before deciding the account is gone, because this tool reports a failure to resolve rather than a verdict on existence.

FAQ

Which input formats work?

A bare handle such as Meta, or a full profile link. Numeric IDs pass straight through and do not need converting.

A handle I know exists came back empty. What happened?

The most common cause is a handle that was changed after your list was made. Group and page links in older formats also resolve inconsistently.

Is the UID permanent?

It is far more stable than the handle, which is why lookups are built on it. Treat each resolution as current rather than guaranteed forever.
