About

Handles survived the rename from Twitter, so a list collected years ago is still worth checking. Paste one handle per line and each row reports whether the public profile answered. Try elonmusk, POTUS, or nytimes.

How to use

One handle per line, @ optional. Rows come back with a status and the HTTP detail behind it. Profile contents, follower counts, and posts are not fetched.

One rename, two domains, the same handle

The move from Twitter to X changed the brand and left the handle namespace intact. That is why an old export still has value: the identifier in a twitter.com link is the one to paste, and no conversion step is needed. What did change is what a signed out request is allowed to see, which is why this check is narrower than the site looked a few years ago.

How to paste a list

One handle per line, @ or no @, and no full URLs. Where a list came from link exports, cut everything up to the last slash first. A row that still carries a query string will fail in a way that looks like the account is gone, which is the most common false negative here.

When a resolving handle still looks empty

Protected accounts respond to a public request while showing nothing behind it, so they read as resolving without being readable. Suspended handles behave differently again and can answer for a while after the suspension. Treat the status as a statement about the request rather than about the account's standing.

FAQ

Do old twitter.com handles still work here?

Yes. The handle is what carried over from Twitter to X, so lists made before the rename check normally.

Can I see a handle's previous names?

No. X does not publish handle history to signed out visitors, and nothing here reconstructs it.

Why does a handle I can see logged in come back as not resolving?

Signed out requests get a different answer from signed in ones, and protected accounts are the clearest example.
