How to use

Where the suggestions come from

The server asks YouTube's search autocomplete four questions: your keyword on its own, the keyword followed by a space, how to plus the keyword, and best plus the keyword. The answers are merged, lowercased and deduplicated, with your original keyword kept first. Requests go out with the interface language set to English, which is why the two prefixes are English phrases.

How the 500 character count works

YouTube's tag box holds 500 characters, and it counts differently from a plain character tally. A tag that contains a space is stored with quotes around it, so minecraft house costs 17 characters rather than 15, and each comma between tags costs one more. The counter here applies the same arithmetic and turns red past 500, the point at which YouTube refuses to save the tags. Deselect the longest or least relevant phrases until it drops back.

Hashtags built from the same list

Each selected tag is also turned into a hashtag by joining its words in camelCase and dropping punctuation, so minecraft house ideas becomes #minecraftHouseIdeas. Duplicates are removed and the list stops at 15. Hashtags go in the title or description, where viewers can click them, while tags sit in the hidden tag field in YouTube Studio. Keep tags in proportion
