About

Write the moments you want to point at, one per line, and get a share link for each that opens the video at that second. Every link takes the form https://youtu.be/ID?t=SECONDS and is built in your browser from the video link you paste. The same list can be copied out as chapters ready for a video description.

How to use

Paste the video URL or its ID. In the times box, write one time per line, optionally followed by a space and a label, for example 4:05 Results. Each recognised line becomes a link you can open or copy, and a line the parser cannot read turns red. Copy all links puts every URL on its own line; Copy as chapter list gives you time and label lines instead.

Writing the times

Each line starts with the time, and anything after the first space is the label. The time can be seconds (245), clock notation (4:05 or 1:04:05) or the h/m/s form YouTube itself uses in links (4m5s, 1h4m5s). The box starts with three sample lines in different notations to show that they mix freely in one list.

Share links versus chapters

A timestamp link sends someone to one moment: a reply in a comment thread, a message to a colleague, a citation in an article. Chapters belong to the video itself. When the description holds a list of timestamps that meets YouTube's rules, the player splits the progress bar into named segments that viewers can jump between. The chapter output turns each line into m:ss Label, or h:mm:ss Label for long videos, which is the format YouTube reads from descriptions.

Rules YouTube applies to chapters

YouTube only builds chapters when the first timestamp is 0:00, the timestamps run in ascending order, there are at least three of them, and each chapter lasts at least 10 seconds. The generator formats your lines but does not enforce those rules, so check them before you paste: open the list with a 0:00 line, keep at least three entries, and leave at least 10 seconds between consecutive times.

Lines that turn red

A line turns red when its first word is not a time, for example when the label comes first or a stray character sits inside the number. Fix the line in the box and the output updates as you type. Red lines are left out of both copy buttons, so a typo cannot slip into what you paste.

FAQ

How do I link to a specific time in a YouTube video?

Add ?t= and the number of seconds to the youtu.be link, for example youtu.be/ID?t=90 for 1:30. This page does the conversion for every line you enter.

How do I add chapters to a YouTube video?

Put a list of timestamps with titles in the video description, starting at 0:00. Write your times here, press Copy as chapter list and paste the result into the description in YouTube Studio.

Why are my YouTube chapters not showing?

Usually the list breaks one of YouTube's rules: the first timestamp is not 0:00, there are fewer than three, or one chapter runs shorter than 10 seconds.

Can I write a timestamp like 1m30s?

Yes. 1m30s, 1:30 and 90 all produce the same link ending in t=90.
