About
This YouTube description extractor hands you the complete description text along with the title, so you never fight the more button again. The title lands in a single-line field and the description in a scrollable box, each with its own copy button. Try https://youtu.be/dQw4w9WgXcQ. What comes back is the text as the uploader published it: no translation, and links inside the description are neither expanded nor checked.
How to use
Paste the video URL or ID and press Run. Next to the title you see its length out of 100; next to the description, its length out of 5000. Line breaks, blank lines and chapter timestamps survive exactly as written. A video with no description gives an empty box and a count of 0.
What a raw description contains
The box shows the uploader's original text, including chapter timestamps, outbound and affiliate links, sponsor disclosures and the hashtags at the bottom. The watch page folds all of this away, and selecting it on a phone is painful. With the raw text in hand you can lay several descriptions next to each other and see how other channels order chapters and links.
Reading the title length
The 100-character cap is a hard limit, but search results and suggested-video slots usually show only the opening part. That makes the count more useful as a consistency check: when titles in one series vary wildly in length, a playlist page looks ragged. To test a new title before it is published, the YouTube title checker on this site works without a live video.
Backing up descriptions before an edit
Before a rebrand or a bulk rewrite of descriptions, copy the old ones out and save them somewhere, so you can paste them back if a change goes wrong. Each lookup handles one video, and results are cached on the server for ten minutes, so an edit you saved a moment ago may need that long to appear here.
FAQ
How do I copy a full YouTube description?
Look the video up here and the whole description appears in the text box, unfolded. The copy button takes all of it. That beats long-pressing on a phone, which tends to stop partway.
How long can a YouTube description be?
5,000 characters, against 100 for the title. Both counts sit beside their limits on this page, so you can see the remaining room at a glance.
How are emoji and non-Latin characters counted?
One character each: a Chinese character counts as one, and so does an emoji. If you are within a few characters of the limit, trust the counter in Studio.
Can I see an older version of a video's title?
No. Only the current public version is read, and YouTube does not show visitors a history of title or description edits.
