Stories last a day, and this collects the ones a public account has up at the moment you run it. There is no archive to reach into: something posted yesterday afternoon is already beyond what any tool can retrieve. Try spotify, netflix, or disney.
How to use
One username per line, then wait for the job and open the download link. Run it while the story is live, since a run an hour after it expired returns nothing.
A one day window, and what it means for you
Everything about this tool follows from stories expiring. There is no catching up, no historical range to request, and no point re-running yesterday's list. If a story matters, it has to be collected while it is live. Accounts that post many stories a day are worth checking more than once, because the set changes throughout the day rather than all at once.
Empty is the usual answer
Most accounts have no story live at any given moment, so an empty archive is the normal result rather than a sign of a broken job. Before concluding otherwise, open the profile and look for the ring around the avatar. If there is no ring there is nothing to collect, and no tool will change that.
Public accounts only, and what that excludes
A private account's stories go to approved followers, and being one of those followers is a permission granted to you inside Instagram rather than something a collector inherits. Close friends stories are narrower still. Both are outside what this reaches, which is the same boundary every other tool on this site respects.

Can I get a story from last week?
No. Once the window closes the story is no longer served publicly, and nothing here keeps a copy.
Will the account see that I viewed it?
Story view lists come from viewing inside Instagram while signed in. This collects publicly served media instead, so there is no view to record.
The archive is empty but the job succeeded.
That combination usually means the account simply has no story live at the moment. It is the most common outcome and not a failure.
How is this different from the post downloader?
Different content and different lifespan. Posts persist and can be collected later. Stories exist for a day, which changes when you have to run this rather than how.
