About
Use this YouTube hashtag extractor to gather every #hashtag a video uses without scrolling through a long description. It reads the title, the description and the row of clickable blue hashtags shown above the title. Try https://youtu.be/dQw4w9WgXcQ. Hashtags are the visible, clickable kind; the hidden keywords an uploader adds in Studio are a separate field, which the tag extractor handles.
How to use
Paste a video link or ID and press Run. You get the number of hashtags and each one as a chip, and the copy button joins them into a single space-separated line. Variants that differ only by case keep the spelling seen first, and number-only strings such as #2024 are skipped. If neither the title nor the description contains a #, the panel tells you so.
The blue line above the title
Some videos show a row of blue hashtag links above the title. The tool reads that row along with the title and the full description, then removes repeats, so hashtags buried behind the description's more button still turn up. One exception: when the server has to fall back to the YouTube Data API v3, only the title and description are available, because the API does not return that row.
What happens past 15
YouTube does not keep the first 15 and drop the rest. Once a video carries more than 15 hashtags, all of them stop counting. When you audit your own uploads, look at the total first, and if it is over, cut near-duplicates such as #shorts and #shortsvideo down to one.
Putting the copied list to work
The copy button produces one line of space-separated hashtags, ready to drop at the end of a new description or into a sheet where you compare several videos side by side. Ordering follows first appearance, so anything from the title leads the list and you can see which terms the uploader put in the most visible spot.
FAQ
What is the difference between YouTube hashtags and tags?
Hashtags sit in the title or description with a # in front, and viewers can see and click them. Tags go into the Studio tag box and are visible only to the uploader and in the page source. This page deals with hashtags.
How many hashtags can a YouTube video have?
Go past 15 and YouTube ignores every hashtag on that video, which is why the tool warns you once the count passes 15.
Why is #2024 missing from the results?
A string made only of digits does not count as a hashtag, so the tool drops it. Mixed forms such as #world2024 are kept.
